Homemade gifts to make for birthdays or any other occasion are easy to find on our gift index. We chose one simple and quick present to make for mothers day or for a good friend.

This gift is practical and fashionable. With very little time and a shirt and scissors you can make a loveable little gift. I call this gift the "shirt bag".

I gave my sister this gift after her final school exam. I made it from one of my old shirts that I knew my sister loved. Since my old shirt didn't fit my sister I simply made this gift.

Instruction:

 

1. Use the chalk to mark the pattern to cut around the collar.

2. Cut the collar out.

3. This is what the shirt looks out after you cut out the collar. Make sure your cut is wide.

4. Cut out the sleeves.

5. Here is what you get after cutting the sleeves. Just a simple sleeveless T shirt.

6. Make cuts at the bottom part of the Shirt (the front and the rear) – A fringe.

     

7. Tie the cut out parts (each fringe - front of the shirt to the back of the shirt) in order to seal the shirt (the bottom part of the bag).
 

8. After tying each fringe your bag is ready!
     
   
9. You can put the bag on your wrist – just put your hand through the shoulder straps. The bottom part is sealed so nothing can fall out.

Tips

• You can add any decorations (such as pins or patches) to the bag.

• You can use any shirt and any fabric – cotton, flannel or corduroy

• If you wish to take a short cut – use a sleeveless T shit.

• As I was looking for homemade gifts to make (as a last minute gift) I stumbled upon this one. This Idea saved me. I took the bag and filled it with candy – and it was a hit!
